We operate the Android application "Purdue App - with map". This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information we receive from users of the app.
To begin, we would note that information collected in this application is used only to provide the user with new features and not to collect information on the users to be used for marketing purposes.
If you choose to send us an email with the "Email me your problems" button. The app will automatically attach a file "log.txt" to the email. This file contains the Android logcat output from the app. This file contains information about the inner workings of the app and the most sensitive information it may contain is your Google Play username or Purdue username. This file is attached so that we may diagnose glitches described in the email. If you do not wish to share this information, you may choose to not send the attachment.
Additionally, the email contains the version of Purude App you are using, the type of phone you are using, and your Android version. If you do not wish to share this information you may delete these lines from the email.
Purdue Credentials
In order to provide the Email and Schedule sections, the application must know your username and password. These pieces of information are stored in private memory on the phone and are only sent via encrypted channels to the email server and Purdue's server.
Once at these destinations, the app has access to a great amount of information. All information downloaded from these sites is displayed within the app. Additionally, this information is never transmitted in any form by the app. Your schedule and emails are safe within the app.
Contacts
The app requests your contact information within its permissions in order to give you suggestions when sending an email. These contacts are used only for this purpose and are never transmitted from the app.
Location
When using the map, the application uses GPS services to locate your device. This location is only used to display your device's location on the map and is never trasmitted from the app.
Changes To This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of February 18, 2017 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page.
We reserve the right to update or change this Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Purdue App after we post any modification to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgement of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.
If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice within the app.
